Faster web searching with a new IE plug-in
A patented “pre-fetching” technology used by a company called Browster based out of San Francisco, pops a copy of a web page instantly serving it from the original search page. By hovering over lightning bolts inserted next to each individual search link by the browser plug-in, users can see the data on a particular page, download files or just browse to the next link.
Browster 1.0 works with search engines like Google, Yahoo and others as well as some of the most used e-commerce services such as Amazon, eBay and other web sites which have a search capability.
The Technology Behind Browster
Browster is designed from the company’s patent pending page display and prefetching technology. The product is a browser plug-in client and a set of innovative server components that are tightly linked. It is a networked application that communicates with Browster’s servers to retrieve the most relevant content at any given time. Browster’s server technologies include pay-for-performance marketing management servers, comparative shopping engine and algorithms to select the best content for the ad frame based on relevance and user intent.
The company offers the plug-in as a free download and says it is supported by a set of relevant pay-per-performance ads at the top of each Browster Window. The ads are carefully designed to be unobtrusive and relevant to the current search just like ads currently displayed on search engines. Browster says plans to support other browsers are in works.
