Intel and Morgan Freeman to bring new movie releases online
Actor Morgan Freeman and chip maker company Intel is teaming up to deliver digital, online distribution of film and entertainment to help prevent movie piracy.
A company ClickStarInc, which was formed by Morgan Freeman’s Revelations Entertainment company in association with a movie producer Lori McCreary, is to launch their service sometime in 2006 and offer first-run, pre-DVD-release films available to users via a download using an Intel compatible home entertainment device.
“ClickStar addresses the growing worldwide consumer demand for digital content — especially filmed entertainment. Our goal is to deliver first-run premium entertainment to film fans around the world and to make film easier to buy than to pirate,” said Morgan Freeman.
ClickStar’s mission is to become the legal and the default choice for downloading and viewing first release films in the future. Nizar Allibhoy, a former Sony pictures executive, will direct ClickStar to work with the entertainment industry to create a line of films that will be available both in theaters and online distribution with the Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology.
